About us
Balham Park Surgery Patient Group (BPS Patient Group) exists as a link between the practice and its patients, providing information to patients so that we have better access to the services we, the patients, need and feeding back ideas and concerns to the practice. We hold regular meetings via Zoom attended by patients and representatives from the practice, including the Business Manager, Jo Foley, and a GP Partner.
We also meet two or three times a year in person. To help keep everyone informed about the Surgery and local health matters, we issue a newsletter, The Bulletin, six times a year which is posted on the BPS website and distributed directly to all patients by email via Accurx. We also arrange educational talks on health topics, and we hold other occasional events such as Open Forums when patients can meet Surgery staff.
There is no need to “join” – as a patient, you are automatically a member of the group. However, we do need more patients to participate actively so we can be fully representative of the wider patient group. We are particularly keen to find patients to speak up for disabilities and special needs, carers, and younger members with children to make ensure all needs are represented. You would be warmly welcomed at our monthly meetings.

Our objectives for 2024/25 are to
- Work with BPS to analyse patient feedback and ensure that recurrent issues are addressed
- Produce a shorter Bulletin at least every two months reflecting practice priorities
- Keep Patient Group part of website updated and relevant
- Draft a programme of Education talks (2 x ed talk plus one Open Forum) for the year
- Plan for ways to distribute more widely, e.g. videos, presentation notes
- Support BPS staff projects and training by providing speakers and information
- Maintain links with Thurleigh Road and other local and national patient groups

The Patient Group meets regularly on the second Thursday of the month at 6pm.
