| Continuity of Care |
| At Balham Park Surgery, we try to enable patients to see the same doctor whenever possible as we believe that this provides patients with better care. This is particularly helpful if you are presenting with something that you have already consulted about. Sometimes it might not be possible or appropriate to see the same doctor, for example if the doctor is away and if you feel that your problem cannot wait, or if you are advised to see another doctor in the surgery who has a special interest and skill in a specific area. |

| You will need an appointment to see one of the doctors or practice nurses. Please telephone 020 8772 8772 or ask at reception where an appointment will be booked for you. Each person needs their own appointment. If more than 1 person needs to be seen, please book a separate appointment for each individual. You can usually choose which doctor you would like to see. For continuity of care it is advised that you see the same doctor on each visit. If you are unable to book an appointment and feel you need to be seen that day please speak to a receptionist who can then advise you. Please see surgery opening times |
| Online appointment booking. |
| We have a new internet appointment booking system, our medical solutions company EMIS has implemented a system which enables patients to book appointments online. We hope this service will be more convenient to our patients, and also give our reception staff more time to deal with other enquiries. These appointments are NOT for medicals, cervical smears, baby checks or any procedures requiring an extended appointment. We do not yet have nurse appointments online. If you are in doubt about using this service please telephone the surgery. |

| Patients will be required to register at the surgery to use this service (proof of photo identification required – Passport, Drivers Licence, National ID or Employee ID). Ask a receptionist for your registration details. Once you have registered at the surgery, you will then be able to logon and manage your appointments. To activate your account you must REGISTER HERE FIRST. We reserve the right to deny access to the online appointment system to any patient who abuses the service. Please book one session per person ONLY. Once registered you will then be able to view appointments you have already made, cancel them if necessary, and book an appointment with your doctor for any available times. We take the security of our patients’ information very seriously. We ensure that the information you provide when using the internet appointment booking facility is protected. All communications with the emisaccess website are encrypted, using 128 bit SSL. Only you can see the personal information you enter. To ensure security its is advisable to use Internet Explorer 5 or above. |
